Wendy K. Martinez Memorial Scholarship

Wendy K. Martinez Memorial Scholarship

Wendy K. Martinez graduated from the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College in 2006, with a concentration in international studies. She was a leader by example and by nature as a student and in her career. Her joy in life and passion for a cause attracted others to her.

In 2005, while a student at FAU, Wendy was honored to become a Fellow of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Leadership Institute. Her passion for social impact led her to pursue her master’s degree in Latin American Studies at Georgetown University and to her positions with the Organization for American States, the Inter-American Development Bank, and most recently as Chief of Staff for FiscalNote. Wendy’s passion for her work, her family, her colleagues, and her home country of Nicaragua, shined in all of her
endeavors and accomplishments.

A scholarship in Wendy’s name was created to honor her spirit, leadership ability, and passion for democracy and social impact in Latin American and the United States. The scholarship will benefit Latina students at the Wilkes Honors College who demonstrate leadership and a commitment to making a social impact for Latin America and/or Latin American immigrants in the United States. Her family and friends’ intent is to create an endowment so Wendy’s memory will live on in perpetuity.
