Florida Atlantic University is set to celebrate its 2022 President’s Gala gala on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 7 p.m. in the Martin F. and Jane Greenberg Foundation Tower of FAU Stadium at its Boca Raton campus.

FAU Honors 2021 Talon Award Recipients

Florida Atlantic University recently hosted its annual Talon Leadership Awards ceremony as part of Homecoming 2021. The awards recognize outstanding faculty, student, alumni and community leadership. Co-sponsored by the FAU Alumni Association (FAUAA) and the Homecoming Committee, the Talon Awards have been presented during Homecoming week since 1997.

Christopher Delisio Named CEO of FAU Foundation and Vice President of Institutional Advancement

Hagerty Family Gives $2.5 Million to FAU Football

BOCA RATON, Fla. (August 27, 2021) – Florida Atlantic University Athletics received a $2.5 million gift from Michelle and Michael Hagerty to name the FAU head football coaching position in perpetuity. Hereafter, the position will be referred to as Hagerty Family Head Football Coach.

FAU ANNOUNCES LARGEST GIFT IN SCHOOL’S HISTORY

Florida Atlantic University officially announced today that it has received its largest gift in school history – a $20 million gift from benefactors Kurt and Marilyn Wallach. This transformational gift will create the Kurt and Marilyn Wallach Institute for Holocaust and Jewish Studies housed in FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.

DIPLOMACY TEAM WINS SECOND NATIONAL TITLE AT MODEL U.N.

The Leon Charney Diplomacy Program at Florida Atlantic University recently competed in the virtual National Model United Nations competition and finished first overall out of 43 competing universities and received seven awards. This is the second national title for the program.

MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR GIFT MADE TO NAME FAU’S CENTER FOR HOLOCAUST AND HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION

Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters recently announced a multi-million dollar gift from Arthur Gutterman to name the Arthur and Emalie Gutterman Family Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education on FAU’s Boca Raton campus. The Center prepares K-12 educators and support staff in Southeastern Florida to implement the Florida statute that requires instruction of the Holocaust by providing learning opportunities, resources and curriculum support.

FAU MOVES UP IN ‘U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT’S’ LIST OF TOP UNIVERSITIES

Florida Atlantic University moved up in the U.S. News & World Report list of “Top Public Schools,” to No. 136 in this year’s ranking of the nation’s best universities. FAU’S NEW MEDICAL STUDENTS PLEDGE TO COMBAT HEALTHCARE DISPARITIES

Florida Atlantic University’s Schmidt College of Medicine recently celebrated its 10th White Coat Ceremony virtually to welcome its incoming class of 2020. This time-honored event is celebrated at medical schools around the nation and symbolizes entry into the medical profession as medical students are cloaked with their first doctor’s white coat. For more than a century, the white coat has been the symbol of the medical doctor. 

FAU’S ACI RECEIVES $1.5M GRANT FROM THE TAFT FOUNDATION

Florida Atlantic University’s Academy for Community Inclusion (ACI) within the Department of Exceptional Student Education in the College of Education recently received a $1.5 million grant from The Taft Foundation.  FAU’s ACI is a college program for high school graduates who have been diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program allows students to participate in college activities, clubs, events and organizations that are available to all FAU students. MARINE SCIENCE LAB RECEIVES $1.125M FROM CORNELIA T. BAILEY FOUNDATION

Florida Atlantic University has officially announced a $1.125 million gift from The Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation. The gift will establish the Glenn W. and Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation Marine SEA Scholars Program at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science’s Marine Science Laboratory in the Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex in Boca Raton.

CORONAVIRUS BILL INCLUDES BREAKS FOR CHARITABLE GIVING

To help encourage charitable giving during this difficult time, the U.S. Congress, as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, expanded the favorable tax treatment provided to charitable contributions under the federal tax laws. The CARES Act includes two charitable giving incentives that are of note, especially as they relate to FAU Foundation funds.

Florida Atlantic University has established the “FAU Cares Emergency Fund” for currently registered, degree-seeking students who are experiencing financial hardship. “More than 65 percent of all FAU students work to put themselves through school,” said FAU President John Kelly. “During these unprecedented times, we want our Owls to know we are here for them.”

AVRON B. FOGELMAN SPORTS HISTORY MUSEUM OPENS AT FAU

The Avron B. Fogelman Sports History Museum, a permanent exhibit featuring artifacts from the former Kansas City Royals owner and longtime Boca Raton resident’s private collection, recently opened in the Schmidt Family Complex for Academic and Athletic Excellence. Part of a donation valued at more than $10 million, the collection is widely considered one of the largest private libraries amassed and owned by an individual.
