Florida Atlantic University has received a significant gift to establish the Craig and Barbara Weiner Holocaust Museum of South Florida at FAU. The gift includes the donation of a substantial collection of authentic artifacts from the Holocaust, as well as funds to build the 2,000-square-foot museum within the Kurt and Marilyn Wallach Holocaust and Jewish Studies Building in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.

The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute has been awarded a $1.3 million grant by the Florida Department of Emergency Management to explore the feasibility of in-water harvesting of Sargassum, a type of seaweed. This approach aims to clean up the seaweed before it reaches the shores, potentially offering a more efficient solution to the problem of seaweed accumulation on Florida's beaches.
