FAU’s College of Engineering and Computer Science Receives $1 Million Gift from NextEra Energy Foundation

Florida Atlantic University and Florida Power & Light Company, through its charitable arm the NextEra Energy Foundation, have agreed to a four-year collaboration to establish the FPL Center for Intelligent Energy Technologies (InETech), which will be housed in the FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science. The $1 million gift was approved today by the FAU Board of Trustees.

Approximately 40 talented first-generation students from FAU’s Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars Program gathered for a special fireside chat with an honored guest, Mr. Leon Cooperman, a Forbes 400 member, founder and chairman of Omega Advisors, and former chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. In addition to the students, FAU President John Kelly, alumnus and Chairman of the FAU Board of Trustees Anthony Barbar, longtime friend of FAU Christine E. Lynn, and alumnus and former faculty member Dick Schmidt were also in attendance.

Florida Atlantic Awarded $6M Grant to Expand Marcus Institute of Integrative Health

Florida Atlantic University’s Marcus Institute of Integrative Health has been awarded a monumental $6 million grant from the late Bernie Marcus and The Marcus Foundation to broaden its services, enhance educational programs, and expand community wellness initiatives, ultimately aiming to create a national model that demonstrates the effectiveness of comprehensive integrative health as the optimal approach for achieving overall well-being for everyone.

Florida Atlantic Giving Day 2024 Unites University Community

Florida Atlantic University College of Engineering and Computer Science (COECS) and Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) officially unveiled the newly established “FPL Center for Intelligent Energy Technologies” (InETech) today at the university’s Boca Raton campus. The FPL InETech Center is housed in the state-of-the-art Engineering East building and is enabled by a $1M gift by NextEra Energy Foundation, FPL’s charitable arm.
