Florida Atlantic Foundation Raises $70 Million in 2024 Fiscal Year

The Florida Atlantic University Foundation, Inc. raised over $70 million from more than 11,121 donors during the 2024 fiscal year – the second largest amount raised in the University’s history. This total is only exceeded by the 2022 fiscal year which raised more than $81.24 Million.

“Much of Florida Atlantic’s success is the result of the generosity of our donors, who have supported us for more than six decades,” said David Kian, interim chief executive officer of the Florida Atlantic Foundation. “This remarkable fundraising year demonstrates the strong commitment of our friends, alumni and larger community to the University’s goals.”

During this fundraising period, Florida Atlantic received several significant gifts. In November 2023, the University received a $5 million gift from the Legacy Foundation of Palm Beach County to establish a legacy for the Palm Beach Pops and its founder, Bob Lappin. In May 2024, Florida Atlantic received a $2 million gift from The Marcus Foundation to launch the Marcus Research and Innovation Center at the A.D. Henderson University School and FAU High School campus in Boca Raton.

“Our donors are creating opportunities for thousands of students to pursue their dreams and earn degrees that will transform their lives and communities,” said Florida Atlantic President Stacy Volnick. “This incredible support will enable us to expand scholarships, enhance academic programs, and invest in cutting-edge research to drive innovation and progress.”

Florida Atlantic University, established in 1961, officially opened its doors in 1964 as the fifth public university in Florida. Today, the University serves more than 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students across six campuses located along the southeast Florida coast. In recent years, the University has doubled its research expenditures and outpaced its peers in student achievement rates. Through the coexistence of access and excellence, FAU embodies an innovative model where traditional achievement gaps vanish. FAU is designated a Hispanic-serving institution, ranked as a top public university by U.S. News & World Report and a High Research Activity institution by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

“We are immensely grateful to our donors for their generosity and support of our students, faculty and programs,” said Brian Poulin, Florida Atlantic University Foundation board chair. “Their contributions have enabled us to advance our mission of academic excellence, research innovation and community engagement.”

As a result of this generosity, Transcend Tomorrow: The Campaign for Florida Atlantic University reached a pivotal milestone during the 2024 fiscal year, achieving over a half billion dollars and placing the University at more than 80% of its $600 million goal.

“Support for the Transcend Tomorrow comprehensive campaign has been a source of inspiration as we approach our goal,” said David Green, interim vice president for Institutional Advancement. “With a focus on scholarships and student success, the environment, and health-related initiatives, this campaign positions Florida Atlantic to create powerful and positive change, shaping a world that benefits us all.”
