Dr. Deborah L. Floyd Scholars Fund

Today’s challenges for leaders in higher education are often daunting and unpredictable. Even the most seasoned leaders need good counsel, mentors, and a community of resources to provide support and guidance. Without these communities and networks of support, we put our leaders and higher education at a far greater risk of failure.

The Dr. Deborah L. Floyd Scholars program is specifically designed to meet the ever-changing needs of today’s leaders in higher education. In collaboration with a community of alumni, friends, and higher education leaders, the program offers financial assistance to Ph.D. students to build a network of mentors and colleagues by supporting research conference attendance and mentoring activities.

Each year, a faculty and alumni committee awards travel scholarships to “Floyd Scholars” in recognition of their academic standing, potential to benefit from mentoring and resource needs. It is the program’s goal to provide mentoring opportunities for students, and an opportunity in the future for Floyd Scholars to contribute back to the program through serving as mentors, committee members, and donors. Fall, 2024 six Ph.D. students received the Floyd Scholars Award.

A donor who contributes a minimum of $1,000 by December 25, 2025 will be recognized as a “Founder”. Founders may request anonymity or be listed in promotional materials about the Floyd Scholars. Donors may designate their gifts for current use (immediate impact) or to be endowed (invested for long term growth).

The key goal of the Floyd Scholars is to support opportunities to connect tomorrow’s higher education leaders with career enhancing connections and support today.

Thank you for your generosity and support. Together, we are making an impact – changing lives.
