The FAU Foundation (FAUF) values the privacy of the information shared with us. Your trust is important and we feel transparency is a critical component in retaining your trust. The FAUF has various websites to collect information to engage alumni and friends and to help generate donations in support of Florida Atlantic University’s purposes, initiatives and goals. The major websites include:

Information we collect

When you access any of our official websites, you may share information by interacting with our various forms. Examples of data we collect via the websites can include:

  • Giving information
  • Biographical information
  • Event registration information
  • Membership information
  • IP Address, Browser information, any associated Google Analytics (We do not use this information)

From the information above shared with the Foundation through its websites, the FAUF may also collect other information though research conducted by staff to fulfill its fundraising purposes. This information can include:

  • Wealth information (only public records)
  • Other biographical, demographical, business or relational information
  • FAU graduate and/or other education information

A person can share information with the Foundation in many ways, including:

How we use this information

The information collected allows FAUF to inform FAU graduates, donors, and friends on the happenings and needs of the University. Furthermore, information collected permits the Foundation to solicit philanthropic gifts in support of FAU’s missions and conduct events to engage alumni and friends in promoting the purposes and benefits of higher education.

Who we share the information with

Personal information such as name, address, email, and phone number can be shared with our vendors for the purposes of communicating university, alumni and Foundation news, direct marketing for alumni services to graduates, and solicitation of gifts in support of FAU. All of our EU residents have the Data Subject Rights afforded to them by the GDPR. FAUF will honor “the rights to be informed” if personal data is being processed for any purposes other than official FAUF business.

Data Security

We are committed to keeping the data we collect private and secure. We follow strict security standards to prevent data breaches by utilizing appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial safeguards.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

We strive to provide transparency in our fundraising practices in accordance with the GDPR for residents of the European Union (EU). We collect no additional information on any graduate residing in the EU other than basic graduate education, event participation, and philanthropic/gift information described above.
