
David Kian is the Interim CEO of the Florida Atlantic University Foundation, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization certified by the Florida Atlantic University Board of Trustees as a direct-support organization for Florida Atlantic University. As CEO, Mr. Kian is responsible for the overall operation of the Foundation and for managing the activities of the Florida Atlantic University Foundation Board of Directors, an independent volunteer board of over twenty members that directs the investment and disbursement of a more than $300 million endowment, oversees a total asset pool of approximately $475 million, and is stewarding the final stages of Transcend Tomorrow: The Campaign for Florida Atlantic University, the University’s $600 million comprehensive campaign.
Mr. Kian served as Florida Atlantic University’s Vice President and General Counsel from 2004-2024, and also previously served as the Florida Atlantic University Foundation’s Interim CEO from 2015-2016. Prior to coming to Florida Atlantic, he was associate general counsel and adjunct professor of law at the University of Florida, an associate with the law firm of Hill, Ward & Henderson, P.A., and a law clerk to United States District Court Judge Steven D. Merryday. He received his B.A. and J.D. degrees with honors from the University of Florida.
