Brandon McHenry oversees and manages the Florida Atlantic University Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Benefactors Society, an annual giving program that connects members of the community to the marine science research conducted at the Institute. Brandon also aids in FAU Harbor Branch’s larger advancement goals, including donor relations, community networking, proposal development, financial management and event logistics.

Brandon has been with Florida Atlantic University for more than 10 years, and first came to Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute in 2015. As a student, he participated in FAU Harbor Branch’s Semester By The Sea, Summer Internship and graduate programs, which grew his interest in marine science. Brandon has a deep passion for educating people about the ocean and has worked in both research and community outreach programs prior to joining the Institutional Advancement team. With a strong background in marine research and science communication, his goal is to inform the broader community about the amazing research being conducted at FAU Harbor Branch, how it affects their daily lives and ways that they can support the Institute’s mission of Ocean Science for a Better World®.

During his time on the Institutional Advancement team, Brandon helped Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute celebrate it 50th Anniversary by implementing several new fundraising initiatives, assisting with the planning of two high-profile events and crafting special external communications. He also helped develop a comprehensive exhibit highlighting the history of the Institute as well as the current research being conducted, which was displayed at the Elliott Museum in Stuart, Florida.
