Florida Atlantic University has received $1.6 million from the Glenn W. Bailey Foundation to extend its Marine SEA (Science, Education, and Arts) Scholars Program within the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science’s Marine Science Laboratory. The program provides financial assistance to students who demonstrate a commitment to become community ambassadors focused on Florida Atlantic Marine Science Lab studies, discoveries and activities. The initial gift launching this program was given in 2020, and this latest gift will extend the program for five more years.

The Foundation Board is comprised of dedicated friends and alumni of the university who volunteer their time and expertise to oversee fundraising efforts and manage the foundation’s assets.

In 2010, Yash Bhagwanji, Ph.D., associate professor in the College of Education, launched an early childhood education special topics course. After achieving resounding success and philanthropic support from the George B. Storer Foundation, Dr. Bhagwanji has built the College’s Early Childhood Environmental Education (ECEE) program that offers a specialization for students, as well as the nation’s first ECEE certificate program.

Florida Atlantic’s College of Business will host its second annual Golf Classic on Friday, Oct. 4, at Broken Sound Club in Boca Raton. Proceeds will support student scholarships.
