Florida Atlantic University’s College of Business received a sponsorship from JPMorgan Chase’s Women on the Move (WOTM) to create programs and opportunities for finance majors that are expected to attract a diverse group of students and prepare students from many backgrounds to become successful professionals in the finance industry.
Florida Atlantic University and Florida Power & Light Company, through its charitable arm the NextEra Energy Foundation, have agreed to a four-year collaboration to establish the FPL Center for Intelligent Energy Technologies (InETech), which will be housed in the FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science. The $1 million gift was approved today by the FAU Board of Trustees.

Approximately 40 talented first-generation students from FAU’s Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars Program gathered for a special fireside chat with an honored guest, Mr. Leon Cooperman, a Forbes 400 member, founder and chairman of Omega Advisors, and former chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. In addition to the students, FAU President John Kelly, alumnus and Chairman of the FAU Board of Trustees Anthony Barbar, longtime friend of FAU Christine E. Lynn, and alumnus and former faculty member Dick Schmidt were also in attendance.
The Florida Atlantic University Foundation, Inc. raised over $70 million from more than 11,121 donors during the 2024 fiscal year – the second largest amount raised in the University’s history. This total is only exceeded by the 2022 fiscal year which raised more than $81.24 Million.
Physicians often say the desire to practice medicine is a “calling,” and now, more aspiring doctors can answer that call and practice specialties in which they can make the greatest impact thanks to a transformative gift from Ann and John Wood and their FairfaxWood Scholarship Foundation to Florida Atlantic’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine.
Florida Atlantic University received a $5 million gift from Michelle and Michael Hagerty in support of Florida Atlantic Athletics. Their transformational gift will fund renovations and improvements to several athletic facilities, which will now be known as the Hagerty Family Athletics Village.
The Community Foundation of Broward recently awarded Florida Atlantic University with a $200,000 grant for an innovative project to support Broward residents in completing their degree programs. “Crossing the Stage: Advancing Social and Economic Mobility through Degree Completion” is a two-year pilot project that will operate as part of the Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) program.
