Marine Mammal Standing and Population Assesment

Marine Mammal Research, Conservation and Education

Florida Atlantic University Harbor Branch researchers seek to better understand the health and ecology of local dolphins and whales. Our team regularly surveys, photographs, and identifies dolphins living in the Indian River Lagoon. This allows us to track their movement patterns, build family trees and identify potential threats. We also serve as a first responder for the National Marine Fisheries Service and are on call 24/7 to help when a marine mammal strands, entangles, or is in distress. Charitable gifts to this program help support marine mammal assessment, rescue, and education efforts at Harbor Branch.
