In his capacity as the Director of Development for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) and the University Libraries, Mike supervises all philanthropic initiatives for the SE Wimberly Library and its extensive collections and programs, along with the OLLI programs in Fort Lauderdale, Boca, and Jupiter.
Before joining FAU, Mike held prominent leadership positions, serving as the CEO of the Broward Schools Foundation, CEO of the Broward Health Foundation, and President of Covenant House of Florida. He also played significant roles in fundraising at the Broward Partnership, Florida State University, and Nova Southeastern University.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mike is deeply involved in the community. He graduated from both Leadership Broward (Class IX) and Leadership Florida (Class XXVIII). In 1999, he was elected to the Lighthouse Point City Commission, becoming the longest-serving elected official in the city's history. He previously served on the Broward County Planning Council, appointed by the Broward County Commission, and from 2014- 2023, he served on the board of the Broward County Housing Authority, appointed by the governor.
In addition to his civic engagements, Mike dedicated over two decades to the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade, serving on its board for more than 20 years and chairing the parade for three years.
Mike takes pride in his alma mater, Florida Atlantic University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He also served on the FAU National Alumni Association Board for eight years, including a term as President. Furthermore, he contributed significantly to the FAU Broward Presidents Community Council for nearly 15 years. Go Owls!
