Phyllis M. Cohen Gladstein, Ph.D., served on the Yale School Medical faculty in the department of Child Psychiatry for more than 40 years. Prior to Yale, she worked in Washington, D.C. in the Office of Education, establishing preschool programs for those handicapped from 1970-72. Her major areas of clinical and research work were in autism, particularly in early identification and developing special education programs for children with special needs. She trained in child and adult psychoanalysis, and was on the teaching faculty of the Western New England Psychoanalytic Institute in New Haven, CT, as well as the Anna Freud Center in London. Both she and her late husband Professor Donald J. Cohen were instrumental in supporting the Cohen Harris Center in Tel Aviv working with traumatized children. Professor Phyllis Cohen Gladstein has served on many academic boards and is honored to be affiliated with Florida Atlantic University Board of Directors. She and her husband Gary Gladstein initiated the joint degree program of Medicine and Business at Florida Atlantic University and are deeply committed to supporting work at the FAU Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education.
