Marilyn Wallach and her late husband Kurt Wallach shared a lifelong commitment to educating on the Holocaust to ensure the lessons of this horrific point in our world’s history remains relevant today and to future generations.

In 2020, Marilyn and Kurt partnered with Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters on a transformational legacy gift to construct the Kurt and Marilyn Wallach Holocaust and Jewish Studies Building to serve as the epicenter for intercultural dialogue and education in the greater South Florida region. Additionally, through an estate gift, they will establish the Wallach Institute for Holocaust and Jewish Studies with an endowment to fund faculty, staff, visiting scholars, lectures, educational outreach, scholarships and fellowships, study abroad opportunities, research, programming and related activities with a mission to deter hate, bias and discrimination.

Marilyn and Kurt were founding supporters of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. In addition, they volunteered or served on several boards supporting the arts, Indian River County Human Society, Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse of the Treasure Coast, and more. Marilyn currently serves on the Florida Atlantic University Foundation Board.

Marilyn received her associate’s degree in radiological technology in 1961. She later attended George Washington University. Marilyn served as chief technologist for schools and hospital departments.
