Congratulations, Class of 2024!

Florida Atlantic celebrated its largest graduating class in history as 3,600 students received degrees this month. Members of the spring Class of 2024 ranged from 17 to 73 years old, and one-third of graduates were the first in their families to earn a college degree. The Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine also celebrated its 10th year of conferring M.D. degrees. Congratulations to our newest Owl Alumni!

Florida Atlantic Honors 2024 Hall of Fame Inductees and Distinguished Alumni

Florida Atlantic University Alumni and Community Engagement recently hosted its annual Hall of Fame & Distinguished Alumni Award Ceremony and Reception. The event brought together Florida Atlantic alumni and the broader community to honor the career achievements of nine exceptional graduates, each representing one of the university's colleges. Phillip Parker, CAE, CCE, ’73 and Angela S. Prestia, Ph.D., ’14 were also introduced as the 2024 Hall of Fame inductees.

Florida Atlantic University recently hosted its annual Horizon Society luncheon, honoring new and existing members of this prestigious group. Horizon Society members demonstrate outstanding philanthropy by remembering Florida Atlantic’s students and programs with gifts from their estates. They are forever linked to Florida Atlantic, its mission, students, and scholars, who will continue to make a difference in the lives of others.

Flagler Scholarship Encourages Personal Growth, Leadership and Community Service

The Henry Morrison Flagler Scholarship Program, created by The William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust, supports exceptional undergraduate students of the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University. In addition to tuition and housing support, the Flagler scholarship also supports travel, research, internships, and service-learning opportunities.  Flagler scholars have gone on to become lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs, and more.

Florida Atlantic Researchers Land $1M in FDOH Grants to Fight Alzheimer’s Disease

Three Florida Atlantic researchers at the forefront of Alzheimer’s disease research have each received a $350,000 grant from the Florida Department of Health to investigate the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, care management and cure for Alzheimer’s disease. Congratulations to Drs. Mare Cudic, Ruth Tappen, and Qi Zhang for receiving this grant to enhance their pivotal research.

Women’s Softball Wins School’s First AAC Title

Congratulations to the Florida Atlantic Women’s Softball team for making history and becoming the first American Athletic Conference champions in school history. The Owls closed the regular season with a record of 41-13 and have punched their ticket to the postseason. The Women’s Softball team is traveling to Gainesville for the regional round, and you can watch their next game on Friday, May 17 at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
