Stephen Wertheimer has served scores of educational, health care, and cultural institutions, both as chief fundraising executive and counsel, for five decades. Following his tenure as Vice President for College Relations at Baruch College of the City University of New York, he joined Brakeley Briscoe Inc. in 1990 as Senior Vice President, now as senior counsel. In addition to Mr. Wertheimer’s work with numerous colleges, performing arts centers, public radio/TV, and social service institutions, he has counseled leading medical centers, such as Atrium Health (formerly Carolinas HealthCare System), Charlotte, NC; Cone Health System, Greensboro, NC, and Martin Memorial Hospital, Stuart, FL, in the planning and management of transformative capital campaigns. Mr. Wertheimer has been a leader in the professional fundraising community as a member of the national boards of the Association of Fundraising Executives and the Giving Institute Foundation (formerly American Association of Fundraising Counsel/Trust for Philanthropy). He holds bachelor and master degrees in English from Rutgers University.
