The Indian River Lagoon stretches over 40% of Florida’s east coast. FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute (HBOI) has a long history of conducting research and monitoring this biodiverse estuary in an effort to understand the health of the lagoon. HBOI research includes:
- causes of macroalgae and harmful algal blooms
- seagrass productivity and changes based on water quality
- marine mammal health and population studies
- mercury in the food web
- ecosystem change
Do your part to help this important natural resource by supporting HBOI’s research efforts to understand the lagoon, its organisms and our relationship to the health of both. Donate to the Love Your Lagoon fund today!
