Dr. Eric H. Shaw (BBA ’72, MBA ’73), emeritus professor, is adding to his deferred gift to Florida Atlantic University with the commitment to create an endowed award that will be known as the Dr. Eric H. Shaw 3MT® Championship Award Endowment Fund. This endowment will provide a financial award to the FAU champion of the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) each year, and if additional funds are available, Dr. Shaw’s gift also will provide a travel stipend to participate in state and regional 3MT® competitions.
“I am delighted to sponsor the 3MT® Competition because it represents graduate student excellence,” said Shaw. “As a proud FAU alumnus, it is an honor to have my name associated with this event.”
After earning his Ph.D. and teaching at several public and private institutions, Dr. Shaw returned home to FAU in 1982. During his 33 prolific years at FAU, Shaw chaired the Marketing Department in the FAU College of Business, and taught undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral courses in marketing. He also served five years as the Faculty Athletics Representatives to the NCAA, is past president of the Faculty Senate, a former member of the National FAU Alumni Association Board, FAU Foundation Board, and FAU’s Board of Trustees. He remains an avid Owls fan.
