Practice and Ethics

Presenter:  Rafael Jimenez, P.E.

The concept of licensure stems from responsibility to the public and the expectation of the public that engineers will act to protect their interests. It is an ethical responsibility. Ethics is an issue that comes up in the engineering business on an ongoing basis. As a result, the Florida Board of Professional Engineers requires that all registered professional engineers review laws, rules and ethics every two years as a part of their professional development requirements. FAU is an approved provider. This two-hour class is designed to achieve the goals of the Board with respect to the two-hour rules and ethics requirement.

Algonquin Residence Hall Memorabilia

Algonquin Hall opened its doors in 1965 and offered 94-beds to FAU students. Over the years our students have made memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. During the summer of 2019, Algonquin Hall was demolished and will be replaced with a 616-bed residential facility. Before the building was brought down, the Alumni Association acquired the room numbers. These numbers were added to FAU commemorative frames and are available with a donation of $150 or $165. The proceeds are going towards the FAU Alumni Association Scholarship Endowment Fund.

There are 129 room numbers available on a first-come, first-serve basis. In addition to the frame, a t-shirt displaying photos from 1965 is available.

The Deadline for ordering these items is October 1. The item(s) can be picked up at the Marleen and Harold Forkas Alumni Center during the Tailgate in Paradise before the FAU vs FIU football game on November 9 (3:30-5:30 pm). If the items cannot be picked up in person, please email m.guinane@fau.edu and they can be shipped (shipping fees have not been included in the cost and will be added as needed)
